game play footage |
Ashes of Equestria has many mechanics it uses, some you can turn on and off. You can change from first to third person view. Customize you character at the start of the game. You have two different stat systems, one for your main stats called 'SPECIAL' and one for skills which are based on your special. These two stat systems give you advantages or disadvantages depending on how many points are in eat. Too low of points can prevent you from doing an preforming an activity or make you fail on certain tasks. You use your menu by ways of your Pip-Buck which allows you to go through your inventory, heal yourself, and check stats. Equip armor, weapons and spells to yourself or your quick access wheel. For combat your have your quick access wheel letting you quickly change your spells or weapons as needed in battle. You have SATS which allow you to stop time and aim at enemies. Though you have limited amount of shots you can take due to your action points. You can also self aim if you have no spells equipped. Your magic also has a depletion bar so you can only use it so much until you have to let it recharge. Current enemies include raider ponies, bloat sprites, timber wolves, and rad-roaches. Each with there own style of fighting.
Once the game is closer to completion you will be able to go on quests and complete the main story line. The main story line will have a couple different endings depending on your choices in the game. You will be able to have two of the four companions follow you around. Though there are many mechanics yet to be added to the game besides the ones in the current alpha. Right now you can only explore Sweet Apple Acres and PonyVille, though Ponyville is still unfinished. The rest of the map will be added in later alphas until the map, story line, side characters and quests are complete.
Under the options menu of the game you will be able to choose your difficulty level. Hardcore being the hardest and also customizable. Such options to change are 'food, water and sleep', 'temperature and diseases' , 'object weights', 'no fast travel', ' companion death', 'weapon and armor condition and repair', 'blind mode or fog of war', and 'Ironman'.
The people one the development team of the game, have not yet explained all that will be going into the game. This is because they want there to be a surprises for the players. Though hopefully there will be a boarder to the game so you don't fall of the map.
